It’s fitting that Mrs. Wynn’s 10th grade class has been reading Dante’s Inferno before a trip to MA. The other Eagles have improved greatly over the past few seasons and make it hard for a visiting team to get a win. However, every year the ACA fans can count on having a rough time too. From the death trap bleachers to the obstructed view seating, visiting fans do not enjoy a good gameday experience. On the bright side, no cars were threatened to be towed this year.
Now to the game. MA was clearly the better football team on Friday night. ACA showed flashes, but the home team remained in control the entire game. MA scored on seven of eleven possessions including the kneel at the end of the game. They also added a defensive touchdown. ACA’s lone score came on a pass intended for Beau Gainey but ended up in the hands of Ethan Dabney for a 26-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 7-14 with 5:17 left in the first period.
On offense, Mason Henry finished 11 out of 20 for 104 passing yards and a touchdown. Ethan Dabney led the receivers with six catches for 53 yards and a score while Beau Gainey finished with three catches for 26 yards. Micah Merritt led the team in rushing with 60 yards on 18 attempts. On defense, Keenan McCarthy led the team with nine tackles and two sacks. Levi Summers had seven tackles while Aiden Whiten followed with six tackles.
