For the second week in a row, Alabama Christian (3-7) played just one game over the course of the week. The Eagles hosted Stanhope Elmore on Monday and were defeated in an extra inning shootout, 10-13. ACA scored three in the first as Elizabeth Hall smashed a two-run homer in the inning. Stanhope scored seven in the third and owned a 7-4 lead after three. In the sixth, ACA took a two-run lead after scoring three times in the bottom half. Unfortunately, the Mustangs scored twice in the seventh to force extras. In the eighth, the visitors scored four times and held ACA to one run for the 13-10 win.
Despite the loss, the offense was in high gear on the afternoon. Anna Gleason went 4 for 5 with three RBI’s to lead the team. Campbell Hammett and Elizabeth Hall both had two hits. Hammett scored five runs and stole four bases against Stanhope. She is the eighth player in program history to score at least five runs in a game and the first since 1996. In addition, she is just the sixth player in program history to steal at least four bases in a game.
